San Jose Middle School Student Arrested In Assault of Fellow Student On-Campus

SAN JOSE (KCBS)— A San Jose middle school student has been arrested on a felony assault with a deadly weapon charge, following the on-campus beating of another student.

A San Jose Police Department spokesperson sent out a release that said that officers were called to Herman Middle School on Blossom Avenue in South San Jose, just before 10:20 a.m. on Thursday because staff members called to say a student had been assaulted by two other students.

Police said the responding officers determined one of the alleged assailants committed a felony assault with a deadly weapon, although it was feet and hands that were used in the alleged incident. That student was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall.

The second suspect was cited by officers for assault and battery. They were released to the custody of a parent. The victim— a male minor was treated for his injuries, which were not considered life-threatening.

Investigators said there is no other information regarding the motive or circumstances surrounding the assault.
