Bay Area May Get Up To 2.5 Inches Of Rain This Week

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) – As the Bay Area seeks much needed rain during this record drought, the region could see its first major soaker in months sometime next week.

A map from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) forecasts significant rainfall for much of Northern California and the Bay Area in the next seven days. More than 2.5 inches could fall in the wettest locations.

As of Tuesday night, the heaviest rainfall is forecast for the northernmost part of the state, but it appears to be trending south towards the Bay Area.

NOAA's map shows Southern California will not see major rainfall with next week's storm.
