Our weekly half-hour news interview. On air: Saturdays 5:30 a.m.; Sundays 8:30 a.m., 8:30 p.m. on KCBS All News 740AM and 106.9FM.

OAKLAND (KCBS) – Mayor-elect Libby Schaaf plans to end crime, fix the schools and keep both the A's and Raiders in town. That's what she told KCBS In Depth co-hosts Doug Sovern and Phil Matier when asked about her vision for Oakland's future.

Schaaf was a cheerleader at Skyline High School and said she is now ready to serve now as her city's cheerleader-in-chief.

"Oakland is the coolest place on the planet," she said.

She wants to cultivate the city's booming artisan manufacturing culture and build more high-rise housing, while still preserving the neighborhoods that make Oakland special.

Schaff said she sees San Francisco as a cautionary tale saying the city "cannot sell our soul over growth."

And she is determined to keep both the A's and Raiders from leaving. She supports the Coliseum City project and wants to see new stadiums for both teams—but built entirely with private money.

"I am very serious about not pitting one team against the other," she said. "That is a worry that I've had up to this point and that is not something that I will not tolerate. We need keep both our teams; they are both precious to us and baseball is very, very important to this city."
