New Jeans Have Supersized Smart Pockets To Accomodate Supersized Smartphones

Congratulations. You're the owner of a shiny brand new super-sized Smartphone, with every app, every bell, every whistle you could possibly imagine. There's just one problem. Where do you carry it?

Conventional pockets were designed to fit a credit card, a billfold, and perhaps a small hand, but nothing can accommodate that nearly 6-and-a-half inch phone. If you are a woman, plop it into your big purse. If you are a man, invest in a man bag or buy cargo pants. Otherwise, you'll risk joining the legions of iPhone6+ owners who bent their brand new toys when they sat on them in their back pockets (see #bendgate).

Enter, JLeer, based in North Carolina. Designer Mac McAleer was frustrated with his classic five-pocket jeans so he came up with a solution – Smartpockets, designed to fit any smartphone. There are 27 styles for men and women, and a myriad of washes. Prices start around $50. Check out their website, jleer.com to find out where you can buy them.

JBrand, Levis, American Eagle and JCrew have all expressed a desire to satisfy the need for big pockets. But unfortunately, technology has outpaced the fashion design. As obvious as the demand may seem, retailers have been very slow to increase the size of their pockets to accommodate super-sized phones.
