12-Inch Knife Removed From Man's Skull After San Rafael Domestic Violence Attack

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- A San Rafael man says he is amazed that he is still alive after a domestic violence incident left him with a 12-inch knife sticking out of his skull.

47-year old Glenda Ann Bernardini stabbed the knife into 40-year old Jimmy McIntosh's head during an alleged domestic dispute, according to San Rafael police.  2-inches of the knife penetrated McIntosh's skull, and the rest was left sticking out of his head.

McIntosh spoke out in the hopes of preventing further domestic violence.

"I just wanted everyone to know I'm fine, and to speak out against violence of any kind," McIntosh told the Marin Independent Journal.

Bernardini faces up to 11 years in prison for multiple charges including assault with a deadly weapon.  She turned herself into authorities days after the alleged assault.

The pair were in the middle of parting ways following a break-up when the assault occurred according to McIntosh.

"There was a large kitchen knife sticking out of my head.  I actually tried to pull it out myself.  I thought for sure I was going to die," McIntosh told the IJ.
