2 Shot In East Oakland Early Sunday, 1 Victim Dies At Hospital

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- One person was killed and another was injured in a shooting early Sunday morning in East Oakland, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1200 block of 52nd Avenue around 12:45 a.m., police said.

Arriving officers did not find any victims at the scene but later learned two people injured from the shooting were at Highland Hospital, according to police.

One of the victims was a 23-year-old Oakland resident pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

The other victim being treated for gunshot wounds was a 33-year-old Oakland resident in critical condition as of Sunday afternoon, according to police.

No arrests were made and no suspect description was available Sunday afternoon, police said.
