'Goldilocks' Intruder Found Sleeping At Palo Alto Child's Playhouse

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) - A Palo Alto family started their final day of 2014 with a surprise when they found a man sleeping in a child's play house at their home on Everett Ave.

The Palo Alto Online reports that 26-year-old Jason Heinz was arrested shortly after 9 a.m. on charges of prowling and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Just blocks away, and only a 12 hours earlier, a man was found sleeping in a bedroom at a home on Middlefield Road. According to Online, a house sitter scared off the intruder, who had boxed up a number of possessions from the home. A manhunt following that incident failed to turn up anything.

Such crimes are sometimes called 'Goldilocks' cases because the intruder falls asleep after apparently finding the home "just right."

Detectives are still trying to determine if the cases are related.
