CHP Officer Injured After Vehicle 'T-Boned' In Redwood City

REDWOOD CITY (KCBS) — A California Highway Patrol officer was injured Tuesday morning in a vehicle collision Redwood City while he was responding to an injury accident, according to CHP.

The collision happened on Willow Street, near the Costco on Middlefield Road, CHP Officer Art Montiel told KCBS.

Montiel said that the officer's car was "T-boned" by a pickup truck.

The officer was transported to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries, he said.

CHP Sgt. Paul McCarthy said the patrol car was badly damaged and the other vehicle sustained moderate damage. The other driver was uninjured.

Shortly after the collision, KCBS' Ron Cervi reported from from Sky 1 that a pick-up truck was resting sideways in the intersection.

At about 9 a.m. the southbound land of Middlefield Road was shut down and traffic was being diverted through the Costo parking lot.

McCarthy reminded all drivers to make way for emergency vehicles with flashing lights or sirens on city streets and on freeways.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in this accident.
