Dry Month Forces Closure Of Yosemite Badger Pass Ski Lifts

YOSEMITE (CBS SF) - Powerful December storms delivered hope of a wet winter in the Sierra. A month later, those hopes are getting washed out.

Yosemite National Park sent out a Facebook message Monday indicating that the Badger Pass Ski Area would have to shut down until further notice because because of the dry conditions.

"This season's mild weather is starting to show its teeth. In consideration of guest safety, resource protection and guest experience, Badger Pass Yosemite ski area will temporarily close," wrote Yosemite officials. "The ski area will reopen as soon as an appropriate amount of snow is received. Cross your fingers!"

The park website indicates that Cross Country and snowshoe trails are also closed.
