Feds Bust Alleged Manager Of SF-Based Silk Road 2.0 'DoctorClu' On Charges Of Selling Coke, Heroine, Meth

SEATTLE (CBS/AP) -- Federal officials have arrested a Bellevue man they say helped to run the Silk Road 2.0 -- an underground website used to buy and sell illegal drugs and other items.

Officials say the Silk Road 2.0 was one of the most sophisticated and widely used criminal marketplaces on the Internet. The man behind the original Silk Road, Ross Ulbricht, was arrested in October 2013. A San Francisco man then started up Silk Road 2.0. He was arrested in San Francisco in November.

On Saturday, after a yearlong investigation, officials arrested 26-year-old Brian Richard Farrell. In a complaint filed Tuesday, officials say he was one of a small staff of online administrators and forum moderators who helped with the day-to-day operation of the website. They say he used the moniker "DoctorClu."

Farrell was charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine. He was scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Seattle on Tuesday afternoon.
