Giants Reportedly Reach Deal With Fan Favorite Ryan Vogelsong
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – The San Francisco Giants have reportedly reached a deal with right-handed pitcher Ryan Vogelsong, days after it appeared he would pitch for the Houston Astros.
CBS Sports baseball insider Jon Heyman tweeted on Friday that the 37-year-old pitcher has agreed to a 1-year deal with San Francisco, pending a physical.
Earlier this week, Fox Sports and KRIV-TV Houston reported the free agent and the Astros were in serious discussions for a deal.
Vogelsong has played the last four years with the Giants, becoming an All-Star in 2011. The right-hander played a pivotal role in two of the three team's recent playoff runs that led to World Series championships. Over his Major League career, Vogelsong is 49-57 with a 4.42 ERA.
