Oakland Teen Says He And A Friend Killed Woman Because She Wouldn't Leave House They Wanted To Rob

OAKLAND (CBS/AP) -- An Oakland teenager charged with the killing of a woman told investigators he and a friend killed her because she wouldn't leave the house so they could rob it.

The Oakland Tribune reported that a video played for jurors Monday at the trial of 18-year-old Cody Nicosia shows the teenager telling investigators he and his friend decided to kill Barbara Latiolais after waiting for more than six hours for her to leave her home.

Latiolais was brutally beaten and strangled inside her Castro Valley home, which was set on fire after the October 2012 attack.

Nicosia knew Latiolais's boyfriend and said he and his friend came up with a plan to steal a gun collection and the contents of a safe inside the house.
