Just How Long Are We Going To Go Without Rain?

KPIX 5 Morning Weather Anchor Roberta Gonzales answers the questions you never get to ask on-air.

Q: Will it ever rain again? - Wanda Crawford, Livermore

A: Yes.

And hopefully it will rain sooner than later! If the long range computer models are correct, the huge dome of high pressure contributing to the dry, unseasonably mild weather will begin to flatten, allowing light rain to return to the Bay Area in another 8 days.

As of now, slight chance on Sunday evening into Monday, but I am going with a better chance on Thursday, Feb 5 through February 7.  As of today, it appears as if January 2015 will end up as the "Driest January" on record since 1850. That's 165 Years! So far in San Francisco, ZERO measurable rain has been recorded.

Last January 2014, 0.06 inches of rain fell, making it the second driest January in the history of San Francisco. Let's think of it this way….with those kind of stats, the situation can only improve!

I would love to hear from you! Please send weather questions, observations and photos to me, Gonzales@kpix.cbs.com and I look forward to hearing from you!
