Mayor Lee Makes Light Of Disneyland Measles Cases At San Francisco Event

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – At an event in San Francisco Thursday night, Mayor Ed Lee joked about Disneyland and how it became the origin of a measles outbreak that began over the holidays.

Lee spoke to guests at a crab feed sponsored by the San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf Merchant's Association.

At the event, emceed by KCBS foodie chap Liam Mayclem, the mayor said. "People go to Disneyland for measles, but come to San Francisco for crabs."

 

MEASLES OUTBREAK:

 

Mayclem said the audience of merchants loved it.

But on Twitter, several people responded adversely.

As of Wednesday, the California Department of Public Health reported 99 cases of measles in the state. The department said at least 39 of those cases are linked to Disneyland.
