Richmond Man Arrested For Allegedly Shooting Gun In & Outside Of Fairfield Grocery Store
FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- A Richmond man who allegedly fired a handgun in and outside a Fairfield FoodMaxx grocery store Saturday morning has been arrested, police said.
Police responded at 11:47 a.m. to initial calls that a person fired shots in the air near the intersection of East Tabor Avenue and North Texas Street. When police arrived they did not find anyone.
A short time later, police received calls that the same person had fired a handgun inside a FoodMaxx store at 1843 N. Texas St.
When officers arrived, they said they found 43-year-old Shawn Glasper on North Texas Street pushing a shopping cart with two children inside.
Police arrested Glasper and said he discarded a loaded 9 mm pistol when challenged by officers.
Police said the children, aged 2 and 3, were unharmed in the incident and were reunited with their parents, who said Glasper is a relative and was babysitting the children for the weekend.
An investigation revealed that Glasper fired three shots in the 500 block of East Tabor Avenue and then one shot inside and one shot outside the FoodMaxx store.
Police said they recovered evidence of all three shootings.
FoodMaxx was open and full of shoppers when Glasper opened fire and police said they interviewed several witnesses.
Police said Glasper may have been under the influence of drugs when he was arrested. He was taken to NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield for observation.
Glasper was then booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a large-capacity magazine and child endangerment.
