Alleged Art Thief And SF Real Estate Mogul 'Lucky Luke' Arrested After Escaping From Federal Courthouse

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The FBI arrested a suspected high-end art thief known as "Lucky Luke" in Los Gatos on Thursday.

Luke Brugnara had been on the run since slipping out of the San Francisco federal building during a meeting with his lawyers last week.

Brugnara was getting ready to stand trial on mail fraud charges for not paying for approximately $11 million in art -- including a Picasso and a $3 million Degas sculpture of a ballerina -- purchased from Rose Long, a Tennessee art dealer.

The San Francisco native made a fortune as a real estate investor and developer of properties in California and Nevada.

He rented his Las Vegas house to Michael Jackson; he bought a mansion in San Francisco's Sea Cliff neighborhood from Cheech Marin. He donated $3 million to Saint Brigid School. According to his Wikipedia page he even owns a Da Vinci.
