Munchery Delivers, But Not Pizza

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Home food deliveries used to be limited to pizza and Chinese food.  Enter a start-up, Munchery, with great food by local chefs and delivery people who know your neighborhood and are "vetted, fully insured and trained."  You can order food through an app on an iOS or Android device or through the web.  And for every meal you purchase Munchery donates a meal to those in need.

You can easily get a code to check it out for a free first meal, after that you pick the meal you want and the delivery charge is $2.95, you pay via credit card and can add a tip and don't have to be home for the delivery.  You can enter your zip code to see if it's available in your area.

The food comes in sustainable packaging, is eco-friendly, compostable and biodegradable and the containers can be put in the oven or the microwave and there are instructions for warming them up.

Moreover they have a toll free number with customer support from 9am to 9pm in the event you have any delivery issues and you can talk to a real person.  Deliveries start at 3pm and go until 9pm.  You can also leave a cooler out and delivery instructions.

Now onto the food.  The menu changes daily and you can filter by dairy-free, gluten-free, nut -free, vegetarian and vegan.  Today's fare includes entrees ranging in price from $8.95 to $11.95,  of Paneer Vindaloo, Thai Style Curry Chicken, Korean BBQ Bavette Steak, Slow Braised Angus Beef, Sweet Chili Rock Cod with Basil, Vegetarian Gemelli Pasta, Broiled Atlantic Salmon, Tofu Parmesan.  Sides ranging in price from $3.95 to $7.95 of cauliflower couscous, winter Chicory Salad, Rosemary and sea salt focaccia, baja maki roll, Turkish red lentil soup, roasted tomato soup, teriyaki salmon roll, shaved fenel and orange salad, with a kid's menu, desserts ($2.95 to $4.95), and drinks ($1.95 - $19.95) including alcohol.

I have ordered a half a dozen times, yesterday's fare was grilled chicken with pesto pasta by Chef Raymond Reyes, an alum of Gather, Michel Mina, and Blowfish delivered by Andrew who texted me his arrival time and that he had dropped it off at my office.

Good food, nice variety, eco-friendly and giving back to the community.  A great service, foodie delivery.
