Timing The Storm: When Will Rain Return? And Just How Much Will We Get?

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) - A cold storm system dropping down from the north will bring showers and possible thunderstorms to our area starting on Friday and ending on Sunday.

Models seem to agree that showers will move into the North Bay late Friday

And spread to the south through the overnight hours. Showers are expected to increase on Saturday.

Although showers may happen anywhere in our area, the heaviest rainfall is expected to stick over Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito Counties on Saturday.

Although rainfall amounts will generally be light, brief heavy rain and small hail is possible with any of the showers.

The strongest weather will be seen in Monterey and San Benito Counties, where thunderstorms are possible and elevations over 4000 feet could see minor snow accumulations with local amounts up to 3 inches possible.
