Pit Bull Turns On Owner, Leaves Pinole Woman Seriously Injured

PINOLE (CBS SF) -- A woman was attacked by her own pit bull in Pinole Sunday, leaving her with serious injuries.

The fire department responded to reports of a pit bull attacking a woman at a home on Silverado Drive in Pinole just before 10 a.m. Sunday, and found a 40-year-old woman suffering serious injuries to her face, arms, and legs.

A medical helicopter transported the woman to John Muir Trauma Center in Walnut Creek.

A second ambulance transported another resident of the home, but it was unclear if their injuries were suffered in the attack.

Pinole police officers secured the dog and took it into custody.
