Police Looking For Girl Seen Smiling On Surveillance Video While Using Dead Gilroy Man's Credit Card

GILROY (KPIX 5) -- Police say a teenager is still at large and two suspects are behind bars in the deadly beating of a Gilroy man at his home last month.

Isabella Chaidez, 17, from East San Jose was last seen on an East San Jose gas station surveillance video smiling while using the credit card of a man who was murdered just hours before.

The victim, Robert Heiser, was first discovered Feb. 16 at his home in Gilroy. Neighbors called 911 after his dogs had been barking for quite some time.

There was no sign of forced entry, and no obvious sign of foul play. But the coroner later ruled the death a homicide, saying the 56-year-old died of blunt force trauma.

On Tuesday, Gilroy police announced the arrest of 22-year-old Bejarano Rodrigo from San Jose. He was already in jail for another crime. Gabrielle Bernice, 19, also from San Jose, was arrested a week after the killing.

The victim's neighbor say he will be missed.

"(He) offered to help me work on my yard and we'd always talk over the fence so to speak," Rob Oneto said. "Really nice guy. Santa Clara University graduate."

It was tips from the community that led to the first arrest. Gilroy Police is hoping the public can come through again and help them find that 17-year-old girl seen smiling in the video.
