Disgruntled 49ers Fans Start Facebook Page Calling For Jed York To Resign

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – As if the 2014 season wasn't bad enough, San Francisco 49ers fans have already had a tough start to the off-season.

It all started with the departure of head coach Jim Harbaugh, what the team termed as a "mutual decision" to part ways.

Fan favorite and longtime team leader Frank Gore has left the team, signing with the Indianapolis Colts. Linebacker Patrick Willis officially announced his retirement on Tuesday. Another popular player, fullback Bruce Miller was arrested last week on suspicion of spousal abuse.

There have been a handful of other comings and goings, along with trade rumors that surfaced around quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Many fans are already expressing their displeasure with how the offseason has played out. Some have even taken it a step further, starting a Facebook page calling for new ownership and replacing general manager Trent Baalke.

The page, "Free the San Francisco 49ers," popped up this week.  Although it's unclear exactly where it originated from, the organizers said in a post "the tyranny of Jed York has plunged the great Niner Nation into its darkest days."  They are looking to drum up support to fund a billboard that would demand the resignation of Jed York and bring community ownership to the 49ers.

"Jed York and his family has repeatedly dragged our team out of the ranks of the NFL's elite, the historic and rightful place for the 49ers. But we judge the decay in 49er ranks not merely in wins and losses. We judge this decay in the lies, in the deception and in the shameful treatment of Niner Nation's heroes and its most loyal soldiers. We judge this decay in the repeated lies to millions of 49er faithful who relentlessly give of our time, our money, and our hearts to support this team. We judge this decay in the disgraceful leaks and in the cowardly backbiting by the man we are supposed to call our leader. We judge this decay in the shame Jed York has wrought upon this organization, this city, and our communities," the organizers said.
