NFL Launches Year-Long 'Golden' Celebration To Commemorate Super Bowl 50

(CBS SF) -- The National Football League is launching a year-long Super Bowl celebration to commemorate Super Bowl 50, with gold-themed additions to stadium fields, logos, apparel – along with events to mark the golden anniversary of the title game.

As part of the league's 'On The Fifty' campaign, the previous 49 Super Bowls will be linked to the Super Bowl 50 game in a variety of ways through recognition of players, coaches, fans and communities involved in those games.

On the field at NFL stadiums for the 2015 season, the 50-yard-line numerals and the NFL shield logo will be gold. Team logos on sideline apparel will also feature gold accents.

Other aspects of the On The Fifty plans will include:
- Branded NFL events such as Draft, Kickoff and Playoffs will feature the logos in gold instead of the traditional silver logos.
- A gold '50' commissioned by Tiffany & Co. will appear alongside the Vince Lombardi Trophy all year.
- A Super Bowl High School Honor Roll will be unveiled, with schools receiving a commemorative golden football for every player or head coach who has appeared in a Super Bowl.
- Teams will host their own Super Bowl homecomings, with former players honored on game day.

This season, the league is breaking the tradition of using Roman numerals to identify the title game.

Super Bowl 50 will be played on February 7, 2016 at the Santa Clara home of the San Francisco 49ers, Levi's Stadium, and televised on CBS.
