Five Mountain Lions Spotted In 3 Weeks In San Carlos

SAN CARLOS (CBS SF) – Residents in parts of San Carlos are on edge after the fifth mountain lion in three weeks was spotted in the area.

According to officials, a big cat was spotted on Club Drive Wednesday night.

Some neighbors in the area told KPIX 5 that it is very common to see wildlife near their homes, but mountain lions are rare.

"At night, we always make sure to close the glass because you can't be certain as to what can happen," said Shannaz Haque.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife said the drought could be playing a factor in these sightings. The cats could be forced to enter areas where people live in search for food.
