Grandson Of J. Paul Getty Found Dead In Los Angeles-Area Home
LOS ANGELES (CBS) -- Andrew Getty, the grandson of J. Paul Getty and son of San Francisco's Gordon Getty has been found dead inside his Los Angeles-area home Tuesday, apparently from natural causes or an accident.
A watch commander for the LAPD North Hollywood Division said Getty was found about 2:18 p.m. after officers received an initial call of possible distress.
Firefighters responded to the home in the Hollywood Hills and declared Getty deceased inside his bathroom.
Getty's father manages the Getty fortune and philanthropy, supporting the arts, especially classical music in San Francisco. J. Paul Getty was once the richest man in the world. Gordon Getty managed the sale of Getty Oil to Texaco for $10 billion before focusing on philanthropy.
