Police ID Woman Arrested For Allegedly Walking Onto Airfield At San Jose Airport

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A woman arrested Tuesday night after allegedly walking onto the airfield at Mineta San Jose International Airport has been identified as 20-year-old Deanna Predoehl, San Jose police said Wednesday.

Predoehl is being held without bail at the north section of Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose, according to county jail records.

According to Officer Albert Morales of the San Jose Police Department, a woman was spotted walking across the airfield around 5:15 p.m.

A UPS employee reportedly first spotted the woman near the south end of the cargo area. Police told KPIX 5 that the woman may have jumped a fence on the southwest corner of the airport, across the street from Avaya Stadium.

Airport police confronted the woman near a gate. The suspect resisted and was ultimately subdued and arrested on suspicion of trespassing and resisting arrest.

A preliminary investigation indicated she may have jumped over a fence at the southwest corner of the airport near Gate 168 and walked east on the airfield until police found her, police said.

"It's concerning," said Mineta San Jose Airport spokesperson Rosemary Barnes. "It continues to motivate us to ensure that we have the safest airport possible."

The airport has been the site of high-profile breaches over the past year. Last April, a Santa Clara teen made international headlines after he hopped a fence, stowed away on a wheel well of a Hawaiian Airlines jet and survived a five-hour flight to Maui.

In another incident, 62-year-old Marilyn Hartman was able to sneak past security and boarded a plane to Los Angeles. She was arrested when the plane landed at LAX. Hartman had been previously arrested for attempting to sneak onto flights at San Francisco International Airport.
