Troubled East Bay School Board Member Being Evicted For 3rd Time Since 2009

MARTINEZ (CBS SF) -- Trouble seems be following Contra Costa County School Board Trustee Jeff Belle, who is being evicted on top of having police called on him over the weekend after an alleged domestic violence incident.

Belle was narrowly re-elected to the school board by just a few hundred votes in November.

His troubled past surfaced during the campaign, when it was revealed he had pleaded guilty to a felony count of cashing a bogus check.

At the time, Belle admitted he made mistakes related to the bad check, but says he is a born-again Christian who has learned from his past.

Antioch police say Belle's wife Carmen called for help Saturday night.

"He pushed me, and grabbed my hand.  You know, I said, this is it, enough," Carmen told KPIX 5.

But Belle tells a slightly different version of what happened.

"I touched her one time.  I did try to hold her arms down to keep her from hitting me," Belle said.

Antioch police interviewed the couple, but did not make an arrest.

The couple says their landlord is evicting them over unpaid rent.  It is Belle's third eviction since 2009.

Belle is looking for another home in his district.  He says he will not resign his from his seat.
