Conservative Host Dana Loesch, First Woman On Cover Of Guns & Ammo In 54 Years

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Sporting a little black dress and carrying a big black gun, conservative talk radio and TV host Dana Loesch's is turning heads and making history this month.

The host of Dana! on TheBlaze network, and author of Hands Off My Gun, Defeating the Plot to Disarm America is the first woman to grace the cover of Guns & Ammo since 1961.

Inside, covergirl Loesch shares her passion for firearms and talks about subjects ranging from 3-D printed guns to her favorite Founding Father.

More than a few subscribers to the magazine have expressed disappointment because Loesch is only on the cover of newsstand copies. One commenter wrote, "My copy has the M1 Carbine on the cover with Dana in the lower corner. I feel jipped."

Losch's covergirl predecessor was fallen police officer Jeanne E. Bray, who was killed in the line of duty. The November 1961 issue bore her image posthumously.

"She is the only woman to appear on the cover of Guns and Ammo (November 1961) ... until now. I'm honored and humbled that Guns and Ammo asked me," said Loesch.

Loesch describes herself as a "conservatarian," NRA supporter, and is one of the co-founders of the St. Louis Tea Party.

Just after the magazine went on newsstands, she changed her Twitter thumbnail to the magazine cover and tweeted, "I feel badly for the jealous women having a Midol moment over my mag and book cover. Wait, no I don't."
