Children Found Safe After Manhunt For North Bay Dad

ROHNERT PARK (CBS SF) - Two young girls believed to be taken out of state by their father during a custody dispute have been found safe, according to Rohnert Park Police.

The father of the two girls, Everett Reep, had recently been served a temporary restraining order to keep him from his wife and children, age 11 and 9. He then obtained an emergency custody order from another court and took his two oldest daughters from the girls' after school program Tuesday, police said.

Reep's wife contacted the court that issued the emergency custody order Wednesday about the situation with her husband and the court rescinded the custody order. The woman now has legal custody of the girls.

Attempts to get in touch with Reep by phone, text and email were unsuccessful. Police said they learned that Reep was stopped on Interstate Highway 5 in Oregon Wednesday evening in a white Mercedes Benz.

Police offered no details on the recovery of the children, only alerting media "Children in possible parental abduction have been located and are safe, thank you for your assistance."

Police said Reep had been hostile recently and he may have been trying to conceal the girls from their mother after the court issued the restraining order.
