San Mateo-Hayward Bridge Closing Memorial Day Weekend As Caltrans Finishes Work

SAN MATEO (CBS SF) -- The San Mateo-Hayward Bridge will close this weekend for the second time this month as Caltrans crews continue to resurface and treat the deck structure, as well as perform maintenance repairs.

The bridge is slated to close beginning Friday at 10 p.m. and will reopen on Monday, Memorial Day, at 5 a.m., California Highway Patrol officials said.

Caltrans crews had also closed the bridge from May 8-11 for treatment and repairs.

KCBS Traffic: Current Road Conditions

During this weekend's closure, eastbound state Highway 92 will be closed from Foster City Boulevard in Foster City and westbound Highway 92 will be closed from Clawiter Road in Hayward, CHP officials said.

Drivers can take alternative routes such as the Bay Bridge, the Dumbarton Bridge and state Highway 237.

Drivers should expect delays across the alternate toll bridges and plan extra time for the delays, according to the CHP.

As for BART closures, the line between Fremont and Coliseum BART stations will also be closed all day Saturday and Sunday, and reopen Monday at 8 a.m.

The line between Fremont and Daly City will also be closed all day Saturday. A free bus bridge will be available, but BART is warning that it'll add significant travel time.

This is all for some ongoing rail projects.
