Instagram Will Look A Lot More Like Facebook, More Ads

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Your Instagram feed is going to look a lot more like your Facebook feed. There will be more ads.

Instagram rolled out plans for the next phase of the company's advertising strategy Tuesday. The plan includes more targeted ads based on users' tastes and likes, varied ad sizes, and direct-response ads that enable users to sign up for services, download apps or make online purchases.

Facebook bought the photo-sharing site for a billion dollars in 2012. This latest announcement is part of a push to make Instagram more attractive to advertisers and tap into Facebook's huge advertising base.

In a statement the company wrote, "There are more than two million advertisers who actively use Facebook to market their business and we want to leverage the best of Facebook's infrastructure for buying, managing and measuring the success of ads on Instagram."
