San Francisco Doyle Drive Weekend Closure Postponed To July 9th Through 13th

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Transit officials announced Doyle Drive's extended weekend closure has been rescheduled for July 9th through the 13th to avoid the 4th of July holiday weekend. The postponed work will last from 10 p.m. Thursday night until 5 a.m. Monday morning and will last 79 hours.

The work as part of the Presidio Parkway Project will improve and ensure fire-life safety systems in the new tunnels are working properly. Officials said in a press release that key elements of tunnel testing and emergency drills were completed this week.

In addition, the temporary bypass between Battery Tunnels and Main Post Tunnels will be demolished in order to finish the steel-reinforced concrete pavement in the footprint of the bypass. The roadway will also be elevated at Richardson Avenue in order to complete the new connection to Doyle Drive. The work will also see completion of a new connection to the Presidio and Marina Boulevard.

Motorists should expect major delays on the Golden Gate Bridge, especially on Friday.

Full details on the construction work and detours are available at www.presidioparkway.org
