Sunnyvale Toddler Allegedly Abducted By His Mom Found Safe

SUNNYVALE (CBS SF) -- Police have tracked down a toddler allegedly abducted by his own mother.

The baby was found in Newark late Saturday night, several miles from the home where 16-month-old Trinnian Gonzales was abducted.

Police said the toddler was taken from his grandmother's home in the 800 block of San Aleso Avenue, in Sunnyvale.

The suspect was the toddler's mom, Christina Rodriguez.

The baby's father Edwin Gonzales is grateful to everyone who helped find his son. He said he was very worried because the toddler requires constant medical attention.

"He needs medicine and if he doesn't get it he has seizures," said Gonzales.

Police said the mother has been estranged from the family and has not had a lot of contact with the family. They wanted to issue an Amber alert for the missing baby, but couldn't.

"An Amber alert requires we provide a license plate, and in this case, the vehicle did not have a rear license plate," said Sunnyvale Police Captain Jeffrey Plecque.

The baby is said to be doing fine. Police arrested the mom and said she may face kidnapping charges.
