Former San Francisco Giants Player Darryl Hamilton Found Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide

HOUSTON (CBS SF) -- A TV commentator for Major League Baseball and former San Francisco Giant Darryl Hamilton has been found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in a Houston suburb, according to published reports.

The Houston Chronicle reported the 50-year-old MLB network analyst and his girlfriend, 44-year-old Monica Jordan, were found dead inside the couple's Pearland home Sunday afternoon.

Police officers responding to reports of a disturbance found Hamilton's body near the front entry way and Jordan's body in another part of the house, according to the Chronicle.

Hamilton had multiple gunshot wounds and Jordan died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, the report said.

Police said the couple's 13-month-old boy was found unharmed inside the home and he was turned over to the state's Child Protective Services.

Hamilton played with the Giants from 1997-1998 and played with four other teams, including the 2000 National League Champion New York Mets. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

"All of us at Major League Baseball are shocked and saddened by this tragedy," Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. "He was a talented and personable individual, and we were proud to call him a member of the baseball family. On behalf of Major League Baseball, I extend my deepest sympathies to Darryl's family and his many friends throughout our game."

In 2013, he joined MLB Network as an analyst following broadcasting stints with local Houston TV and radio outlets.
