Firefighter Injured In Livermore Grass Fire

LIVERMORE (CBS SF) -- A grass fire east of Livermore has spread to 53 acres, damaged one home and injured a firefighter Thursday afternoon, according to Cal Fire.

Firefighters have stopped the forward progress of the fire, but it has damaged one home and destroyed a barn, a vehicle and a shipping container, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was reported in the area of Tesla Road and Clifford Drive at about 4 p.m., according to the Alameda County Fire Department.

The fire spread rapidly and had grown to 53 acres as of shortly before 6 p.m., but firefighters have stopped its forward progress.

One firefighter was injured working to put out the fire. A Cal Fire official could not immediately provide an update on the seriousness of the injury.

Temperatures in the area at the time of the fire were around 100 degrees.

Crews have closed Tesla Road at Greenville Road and Cal Fire has received reports of wires down in the area.

Cal Fire has sent six fire engines, four bulldozers, two hand crews, two air tankers and two helicopters to fight the blaze. Alameda County firefighters are also working to contain the fire.
