Drizzle Banishes Bay Area Beach Weather - Head Inland To Find Sunshine

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The Bay Area's coastal residents woke up to grey skies and even a bit of moisture early Monday, forcing some to flip on the windshield wipers for the first commute following the 4th of July holiday.

The mild, seasonal temperatures will hang in the 60's to low 70's near the coast, with things topping out in the 80's for much warmer spots in our region.

"We'll see no sunshine at the beaches Monday, and we can expect a repeat performance Tuesday," says KPIX 5's Roberta Gonzales.

On Monday morning, the low ceiling caused some delays at the San Francisco Airport.

By Monday night, we'll see only patchy coastal fog, but drizzle will return sometime after midnight.

"We'll likely see highs ranging from 62 to 89 Tuesday," said Gonzales.

The latest computer models suggest that the moisture will hang around well into the week. We could even see a chance of showers and potentially thunderstorms Wednesday or Thursday.

"We're talking less than a quarter of an inch in most places," said Gonzales, who cautioned that models have been inconsistent in predicting the moisture.

The seasonal temperatures are good news for allergy sufferers, who will see the pollen count drop into the low to moderate range over the next few days.
