Concord Man Allegedly Crossing Street Against Red Light Hit By Pickup Truck

CONCORD (CBS SF) -- A Concord man is in serious but stable condition after he was struck by a pickup truck towing a utility trailer Monday morning in Concord, police said.

Officers responded at 7:48 a.m. to a report of an auto versus pedestrian collision at the intersection of Ayers and Clayton roads, police said.

The pedestrian, a 24-year-old man, was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and was in stable condition this afternoon, according to police.

Police said the driver, a 56-year-old Concord man, was driving a 1997 Dodge pickup truck towing a utility trailer when the pedestrian ran across the road against the red "Don't Walk" sign and the truck struck him.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, according to police.
