Novato's Automated License Plate Reader Helps Locate Stolen Cars
NOVATO (CBS SF) -- Police recovered two stolen vehicles Saturday morning in Novato with the help of an automated license plate reader, police said.
Police have automated license plate readers mounted on several police vehicles and the readers recognize license plate numbers that are in a database.
Officers discovered the two stolen vehicles at 11:03 a.m. at an apartment complex in the area of Lakeview Court, police said.
Someone stole the vehicles from Rohnert Park, according to police.
Officers said automated license plate readers also gather information that can assist in investigations.
