New NASA Images Show Dark Side Of The Moon Crossing In Front Of Sunny Earth
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- NASA gave us earthlings a view of the dark side of the moon Wednesday that we would never have been able to see from the ground.
The images were captured while as the moon passed in front of Earth on July 16.
The telescopic camera used is perched on the solar wind-monitoring satellite DSCOVR, about one million miles away. It was launched into space in February.
The moon's dark side was spotted for the first time in 1959.
