1 Dead After Standoff With Man Who Was Allegedly Armed, Intoxicated In San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A man is dead after a standoff that lasted several hours in San Jose.

At 12:11 a.m., officers responded to the 1300 block of San Marcos Street, after a woman called to report that her brother had showed up to the residence intoxicated and with a gun, threatening to harm himself, according to police.

When officers arrived at the scene, they observed a man with a shotgun, police said.

Two officers fired their guns in the direction of the suspect, police said.

The suspect then retreated into the house. Officers set up a perimeter around the house, and a SWAT team tried to coax the man out.

It took several hours to confirm the man was dead. It is not clear exactly how he died, or if anyone else inside the home was injured.

The two officers involved in the shooting were not injured, according to police.

The incident is the second officer involved shooting in San Jose in the last six hours.
