Elizabethan Era Comes To Life At The Northern California Renaissance Faire

Travel back in time to a place where adventure awaits, mystical creatures roam free and where art, music, and festivities flourished each day and long into the night. Come and find your fantasy at the Northern California Renaissance Faire.

This magic place comes alive every weekend from September 19th through October 18th at Casa de Fruta near Hollister. The fictionalized village of Willingtown invites all attendees to be enchanted by an era when Queen Elizabeth I ruled the county and traveled near and far to see exotic performances. She was entertained by musicians and dancers from traditional English Morris dancing and Gypsy Tribal performances to the rocking Celtic tunes that take place each Saturday evening (admission is free with attendance to the Faire).

Meander the bustling Marketplace streets with artisans that showcase intricately designed art that includes blown glass, keen blades, leather-work, woodwork, jewelry, costumes, hair bands, silver goblets and more. Treasures abound for all to enjoy. Laugh out loud, as the heckling actors pull you into their fantasies and sweep you back to the middle ages.

Feast on a gigantic turkey leg or some of the many other mouth-watering food choices offered throughout the Faire. Stop by one of the beverage stands to quench your thirst with a cold delicious ale, cider or mead.

More than 200 actors infiltrate the 20 acre village performing to all age groups, along with artists that provide face painting, hair-braiding, and fortune tellers. Test your accuracy with a bow and arrow or axe throwing game. And of course, catch one of the most amazing full contact jousting tournaments that will be performed twice a day in the World Tournament of Champions arena.

At dusk, the Jousting Arena will be turned into the hottest music venue in town, when it becomes the center of the Celtic Rock Series. A different band will grace the stage and rock into the Renaissance every Saturday night with bands such as: BlackEyed Dempseys, Wicked Tinkers, Culann's Hounds, Brick Top Blaggers, and Tempest.

Each weekend of the Faire will have a unique and charmed theme. The first weekend is Adults Two-For-One with the following weekends showcasing a bawdy Pirate Invasion, Oktoberfest, Celtic Celebration, and the final weekend you can incorporate them all together with you own Fantasy that can last Forever.
