Crews Increase Containment Of 2,500-Acre Tesla Wildfire Near Livermore

LIVERMORE (CBS SF) -- Firefighters have 25 percent of a 2,500-acre fire east of Livermore contained Thursday morning, according to Cal Fire.

The first report of the Tesla Fire came in at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday near Tesla and Corral Hollow roads between Tracy and Livermore, Cal Fire officials said.

Firefighters on Wednesday evacuated the Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area at 18600 W. Corral Hollow Road and that evacuation is still in effect, Cal Fire fire prevention specialist Pam Temmermand said Thursday morning.

Temmermand said no one else has been evacuated.

No one has been injured in the fire, which has destroyed only one structure, she said.

Cal Fire officials expect to achieve greater containment today, she said.

Firefighters are expecting more wind and high temperatures Thursday, which hampered their efforts Wednesday, according to Temmermand.
