2 Dogs Rescued After Falling 100 Feet Down Daly City Cliff With Woman, Man

DALY CITY (CBS SF) -- Emergency crews rescued two dogs that fell off a cliff with a man and woman early this morning in Daly City, a spokesman for the Peninsula Humane Society & Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said.

The U.S. Coast Guard responded at about 3 a.m. to rescue the woman and dogs off the cliff at Mussel Rock Park. The man who had been with her was able to get back up atop the cliff and call for help.

Crews rescued the woman using a Coast Guard helicopter, hoisting her from 100 to 150 feet from the top and 100 to 150 feet from the bottom of the cliff.

Firefighters tried to initially rescue the woman, but her two dogs were acting aggressively and rescuers weren't able to reach her, fire
officials said.

The two dogs remained after crews rescued the woman, but are now with their owners, humane society spokesman Scott Delucchi said.

Delucchi said the humane society issued a notice to the couple to have one dog evaluated by a veterinarian because the dog's leg was injured.

He didn't know the extent of the dog's injuries.
