2 Minute Google Video Explains New Logo As Latest Step In Company's Evolution

MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) - Google has doodled itself a new logo.

The Mountain View search giant released a video Tuesday titled "Google, evolved," highlighting the way the company has changed over the past 17 years. Here it is:

Google, evolved by Google on YouTube

"This isn't the first time we've changed our look and it probably won't be the last, but we think today's update is a great reflection of all the ways Google works for you across Search, Maps, Gmail, Chrome and many others. We think we've taken the best of Google (simple, uncluttered, colorful, friendly), and recast it not just for the Google of today, but for the Google of the future," the company said via press release. ""We're bidding adieu to the little blue "g" icon and replacing it with a four-color "G" that matches the logo."

The company said the new logo will begin appearing on Google products in the near future.

Last month the company announced that Google's search and other core tools would be separated off from fledgling products under a new umbrella company called Alphabet.
