Injury Report: Raiders Carr Listed As Probable, Woodson Questionable

By Abraham Gutierrez

One of the bright spots heading into the (0-1) Oakland Raiders' 2015 NFL season opener was the fact that Jack Del Rio had a full roster at his disposal. However, having a clean bill of health did very little to alter the outcome of the game in the Silver and Black's favor, as Cincy spoiled Del Rio's coming out party with a 33-10 rout.

When the (0-1) Baltimore Ravens visit the Black Hole in Week 2, the roles will be reversed, as Oakland will be missing three players due to injury. After failing to take a single snap all week, Del Rio listed defensive end Benson Mayowa (knee), defensive tackle Justin Ellis (ankle) and running back Jamize Olawale as "out" Sunday afternoon.

The remaining two players in Oakland's Week 2 injury report are both vital to this team's success, and therefore, have been a huge topic of discussion among Raider Nation. Starting with the good news, Raiders fans would be glad to know that starting quarterback Derek Carr is listed as probable against John Harnaugh's Purple Pain.

The Fresno State product nearly gave Del Rio a heart attack when he recklessly attempted a stiff-arm on troubled cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones during the second quarter of last week's game. Carr was taken to the locker room and did not return. However, an MRI later revealed Oakland had dogged a major bullet, as the second-year signal-caller suffered a mere bruise in his (right) throwing hand.

"In the spur of the moment, especially where we were at, we needed a first down," Carr explained this week. "We needed something. Just like my teammates said, they loved why I did it but don't do it again. It's hard to draw that line. I know I have to be smart for the team's sake. Just get down and we'll live to play the next play, instead of not being able to come back. I learned from it, that's for sure."

The other player every Raider fan is anxious to know the status of for Sunday's game is none other than eight-time Pro Bowler, Charles Woodson. Entering his 18th season as an NFL pro, the former Heisman Trophy winner suffered a shoulder injury in the latter stages of a forgettable (Week 1) afternoon in the East Bay.

This week's practice report indicates that Woodson was only able to participate on a limited basis in preparations for the Ravens. Thus, the 38-year-old out of Michigan is listed as "questionable" for Sunday's showdown against Baltimore.
