CHP: Motorcyclist Killed In Crash After Splitting Lanes On Highway 101

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- A motorcyclist killed Tuesday in a crash on U.S. Highway 101 in Palo Alto appears to have been splitting lanes at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP responded at 5:46 p.m. to a call of a motorcyclist down on the highway just north of Embarcadero Road.

The motorcyclist appears to have been splitting lanes at a high rate of speed in slow moving traffic when the motorcycle collided with the rear end of a vehicle, according to the CHP

The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel.

The collision remains under investigation, but it does not appear alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash, according to the CHP.
