Apple Diehards Camp Out, Line Up To Be The First To Get New iPhone 6s

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) -- Apple's newest iPhone 6s hit stores Friday and true to Apple tradition, folks camped out overnight to be the first to grab one up.

The new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus don't look any different, but new features like a 3-D touch, stronger glass, and 12 megapixel cameras set them apart from previous generations.

About a hundred diehards spent the night in line at the Apple Store in San Francisco's Union Square, just to be there when the doors opened at 8 a.m.

Employees handed out bagels, coffee and water to help them through the night.

A man in the very front had been there since Wednesday .

"It's my first time getting in line to get an iPhone... I want to buy it for my mom."

"Surprisingly, it's not that cold," said another man not far behind him. "I brought my blanket with me, music, so we're all good to go, and a chair, so it hasn't been too bad."

A guy named Timothy wore his SFSU sweatshirt to stay warm. He said there's a lot about this new iPhone he finds exciting.

"The 4K video, the A9 processing chip, it's 70% faster... and the live photos," he said.

Analysts for the Cupertino-based company expect 12 million of the phones to fly off the shelves this weekend.
