Blackberry, Google Cozy Up: New Priv Phone To Run Android OS

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Blackberry CEO John Chen has announced that Blackberry's new phone will be based on the Android operating system.

The company suffered through its second quarter, losing over $60 million dollars while its revenue was cut in half as the Canadian firm continues to restructure itself into a business focused on enterprise customers.

But the attention on Blackberry Friday morning was on the company's new phone and its collaboration with Google.

The phone is called Priv, and Chen claims it will be the solution for smartphone users who are dealing with a lack of privacy on their current phones, while also being an answer for former Blackberry users who miss a physical keyboard but need apps.

Chen says Blackberry will also continue making its own operating system for other devices.
