$1.7 Million Powerball Lottery Ticket Goes Unclaimed In East Bay
ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- A person who bought a lottery ticket in Antioch is now more than a million dollars richer following Wednesday night's draw, according to California Lottery officials.
The winner, who has not yet come forward, was able to match five of the six numbers in the lottery's Powerball draw, winning $1,771,065, according to lottery officials.
The unknown player purchased the ticket at a Raley's supermarket located at 3632 Lone Tree Way, lottery officials said.
The store's owner will receive a retailer bonus of $8,855 for selling the winning ticket.
Lottery officials advise winners to immediately sign the back of their tickets in ink and keep them in a safe place.
Winners have 180 days from the date of their winning draw to claim their prize, which they can do so at any of the lottery district offices located throughout the state, lottery officials said.
If a winner does not claim their prize within that time, the money will be redirected to help California public schools, according to lottery officials.
