Brakes Blamed For Smoky BART Train
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Several passengers aboard an East Bay bound BART train reported smoke inside at least one car inside a San Francisco station Monday morning.
BART spokesman Jim Allison said a train began to emit smoke between the Glen Park and 24th Street Mission stations.
Though Allison said it was a typical propulsion problem likely related to the train's brakes, he said the smoke caused some anxiety.
An Instagram user snapped a photo of a smoke-filled BART car.
Shortly after the problem was discovered, passengers were let off at the 24th Street Mission station, Allison said. There were no injuries.
Allison estimated that service would return to normal by around 10:45 a.m.
