Kentfield Woman's Heirs Battle Over $8 Million Inheritance

KENTFIELD (KPIX 5) -- A Kentfield woman's heirs are battling over the woman's $8 million estate following claims by one of her daughters that a gardener conned the woman into leaving him $3 million when she died.

Attorney David Baer is representing Connie Doolittle's daughter Susan.

They say the gardener, with a wife and kids of his own, befriended and then conned Connie into believing their relationship was more than professional.

"The truth will come out, and the various mental impairments that Connie Doolittle had will make it very apparent that she did not understand the complex trust amendment that she signed.

Proving in court that the trust stems from years of elder abuse won't be easy for Susan and her attorney, said KPIX 5 legal analyst LaDoris Cordell.

"In this case, she has the burden of proving by a preponderance of the evidence that the gardener used undue influence in getting her to leave him several million dollars," Cordell said.
